Ingredients
- The candy eyes I used are smaller than the small Wilton eyes. These are 3/16" candy eyes from Amazon.
- I used dark and white chocolate melting discs. Candy melts, almond bark, or tempered chocolate could also be used. For best results, chocolate chips are not recommended.
- For pastel colored decorating drizzle, I used white chocolate melting discs with food coloring powder. You could also use colored candy melts.
Instructions

- Dip the pretzels in melted white chocolate or candy melts. Tap off excess chocolate a couple of times on the edge of the bowl. Set on a wax paper or parchment paper lined baking tray and chill in the refrigerator until the chocolate is firm (about 3 minutes).
- Leave the pretzels on the baking tray. Pipe melted white chocolate or candy melts into the bottom opening on the pretzel twist to form the face. Immediately add sprinkles for the eyes and nose. Chill again until the chocolate is firm (about 2 minutes).
- Use a food coloring marker to draw on whiskers.
- Dip the pretzels in melted white chocolate or candy melts. Tap off excess chocolate on the edge of the bowl. Set on a wax paper lined baking tray with sides. Cover with white nonpareil sprinkles. Chill in the refrigerator until the chocolate is firm (about 3 minutes).
- Leave the pretzels on the baking tray. Pipe melted dark chocolate or candy melts into the top opening on the pretzel twist to form the face. Add one chocolate dot on either side of the face.
- Using a toothpick, drag an edge of one of the chocolate dots toward the face to form an ear. Repeat on the other side.
- Immediately add the candy eyes. Chill again until the chocolate is firm (about 2 minutes).
- Dip the mini twists pretzels in melted chocolate or candy melts. Tap off excess chocolate on the edge of the bowl. Set on a wax paper lined baking tray.
- Immediately add sprinkles. Chill the drk chocolate pretzels in the refrigerator until the chocolate is firm (about 2 minutes).
- Or, chill after coating the pretzels until the chocolate is firm (about 2 minutes). Drizzle with melted colored white chocolate or candy melts.
Storage and packaging
Store these Easter pretzels at room temperture in an airtight container for up to two weeks.
If adding chocolate pretzels to gift baskets or care packages, seal in small groups in small cellophane bags for freshness and a pretty presentation.

- The dark chocolate dipped pretzels can be coated in melting chocolate discs, candy melts or chocolate flavored almond bark.
- For a glossy finish on the dark chocolate, coat and chill in small batches so that the chocolate firms in the refrigerator not at room temperature.
- White candy melts work well for coating but will not give a glossy finish.
- For decorating, use colored candy melts or add coloring to white chocolate.
- Powdered natural food coloring can be used to color white chocolate or white candy melts.
- Gel food coloring can be used to color candy melts, but not with white chocolate. Only oil based candy coloring should be used with white chocolate so that the chocolate doesn't seize.

Easter Pretzels
Ingredients
For 12 sheep, 12 rabbits, and 24 sprinkle/drizzle decorated pretzels
- 48 pretzel twists
- 1 cup white chocolate melting discs
- 1 cup dark chocolate melting discs
- 3 tablespoons white nonpareil sprinkles for 12 sheep pretzels
- 24 candy eyes 3/16" size, 2 ech for 12 sheep pretzels
- 12 pink heart sprinkles 1 each for 12 rabbit pretzels
- 24 black or navy nonpareil sprinkles 2 each for 12 rabbit pretzels
- 2 tablespoons pastel sprinkles
Instructions
Chocolate melting process
- In a small microwave-safe bowl, melt chocolate in the microwave at 50% power for 1-2 minutes. Stir until smooth. If not completely melted, return to the microwave for 15-second intervals.
- For piping: Transfer the melted chocolate into a small ziplock sandwich bag. Cut a small piece off one corner of the plastic bag.
Rabbit Pretzels
- Dip the pretzels in melted white chocolate or candy melts. Tap off excess chocolate on the side of the bowl and set on a wax paper lined baking tray and chill in the refrigerator until the chocolate is firm (about 3 minutes).
- Remove pretzels from the refrigerator and leave the pretzels on the baking tray. Pipe melted white chocolate or candy melts into the bottom opening on the pretzel twist to form the face.
- Immediately add nonpareil sprinkles for the eyes and heart sprinkles for the nose. Chill again until the chocolate is firm (about 2 minutes).
- Use a food coloring marker to draw on whiskers.
Sheep Pretzels
- Dip the pretzels in melted white chocolate or candy melts. Tap off excess chocolate on the side of the bowl and set on a wax paper lined baking tray with sides. Cover immediately with white nonpareil sprinkles. Chill in the refrigerator until the chocolate is firm (about 3 minutes).
- Remove from the refrigerator and leave the pretzels on the baking tray. Pipe melted dark chocolate or candy melts into the top opening on the pretzel twist to form the face. Add one chocolate dot on either side of the face.
