Easily enjoy beautiful, no bake Easter treats with these decorated Milano Cookie Easter Eggs. The cookies are coated in chocolate and then piped with colorful chocolate designs.

Milano Cookies coated in chocolate and decorated with colored chocolate to look like easter eggs.

    Why you'll love this recipe

    • Using packaged cookies makes this a no bake recipe!
    • No special tools are required.
    • Kids and adults will enjoy decorating these cookie eggs.

Milano cookies come in a variety of flavors. I used mint chocolate cookies and turned them into decorated Easter eggs using dark and white chocolate with colored white chocolate designs.

Milano Cookie Easter Eggs are a pretty addition to an Easter care package (cool weather locations only) or for Easter baskets and Easter dessert.

Making the squiggles and dots is easy and would be a fun project to do with children.

    Ingredients

    • There are 15 Milano cookies in each package.
    • To coat 15 cookies I used 1 ½ - 2 cups total of melted chocolate.
    • To make the cookies half white chocolate and half dark, I used about 1 cup of each.
    • In addition, for decorating about 1 ½ cups of melted white chocolate (or colored candy melts) is needed.

    Instructions

This is an overview of the instructions. The full instructions are in the recipe card below.

    1. Dip the cookies in the melted chocolate to coat completely then placed on a wax paper lined baking sheet. Chill the baking sheet of cookies in the refrigerator.
    2. When ready to decorate, divide the white chocolate for decorating into a separate small bowl for each color. Microwave on 50% power for about 1 minute until melted. Add oil based candy coloring to each bowl and mix to create an even color.
    3. Transfer the chocolate to piping bags or plastic sandwich bags. Cut off a tiny bit of the bottom tip of the bags to pipe the colored chocolate onto the coated Milanos. .

    Tips

    • Be sure to keep weather in mind when shipping chocolate coated cookies. Milano Cookie Easter Eggs should only be mailed to and from cool weather locations.
    • Usually, it is considered safe to send chocolate in military care packages to Afghanistan until the end of March.
    • Wrapped the Milano Cookie Easter Eggs individually in a strip of wax paper, then in plastic wrap. Then place the wrapped cookies snuggly in plastic storage boxes.

Truthfully, I had never thought of making over existing cookies! What a fabulous, fun way to jazz them up! These are perfect for Spring/ Easter, but could easily be altered for any occasion or color scheme. Love it. Pinning!

Thanks, Lokness! Milanos are delicious and just about eggs shaped, so I couldn't resist turning them into Easter Eggs. I had a smile on my face making them, and I hope the smiles will transfer to the troops eating them! Have a joyous Easter!

Thanks, Kim! I love your reader challenge! In our crazy world, it is sometimes surprisingly hard to bake for a good cause. A lot of places won't accept home baked goodies due to health or security risks. There are some groups that accept one time donations though, and I think its wonderful that your readers regularly bake and share!

I'm sorry, Winnie! I should have taken a photo of the cookies right out of the package, before I chocolate dipped them! Milano's are a yummy sandwich cookie made by Pepperidge Farm. The fillings come in many flavors including the chocolate-mint that I used for the Easter Egg cookies.

I don't know about being inspiring, Liz, but thank you. It certainly would be wonderful if someone was inspired to offer some military support after reading a Monday Box post! You know that photos are something I struggle with, so I especially appreciate your encouragement. Though editing programs are a life saver, I really want to get better at lighting. Sometimes while baking you look down at your work surface, and the photo is sitting right there looking at you, if only the lighting and your camera would cooperate! 🙂
